Your learner will be engaged through a variety of activities. You will receive *ten* video lessons of approximately 30 minutes and accompanying printouts to work with during or after class. Advance at your own pace. 🌟 "Multiplication in Movement" brings math to life! 🤸♀️ The goal of this course is to help young students establish a deeper understanding of the times tables and the patterns found in them. They will work with geometry, square numbers and measuring area. Students will follow the story of TIMMY ✖ TIMES and SIR 🟧 SQUARE. Storytelling helps children comprehend fundamental math concepts while having fun. 🤹 Each class, students will stand up and move to the rhythm of skip counting. They will chant, clap and stomp the times tables, and use a small ball/hacky sack to coordinate their motor skills. By involving their whole body, children feel invigorated and awake. The course offers a multisensory learning experience to help students understand math from different perspectives. 🌈 Students will learn strategies to memorize multiplication facts. They will link geometry and number patterns to the multiplication tables. They will also understand the concept of square numbers and squared units as applied to a floor plan. Discover the beauty behind numbers! 🍎 Refer to the Syllabus section for course content and breakdown of topics. ============================ 🖐 To join this class, students should be familiar with the concept of multiplication and have practiced the 0-5 times tables. They will need to have the provided printouts ready for class and some support to review their homework activities. Children who have taken "Multiplication in Movement! Parental Guidance
The movement activities will improve the children’s ability to coordinate the left and right sides of their body and improve their spatial awareness. The movements will be done at a gradual and comfortable pace and involve two small bean bags or hacky sacs. Simultaneously, we recite the times tables (forwards and backwards) to allow the children to focus and be present in their body while working with math and speech. Children should have space away from walls and furniture pieces.
Children will need scissors during some of the hands-on activities. Parents are asked to provide appropriate supervision when necessary.
