⏰ Please check all the meeting times before enrolling. This course is sometimes offered as 1 meeting/week and sometimes as a Camp (3 meetings/week). 🌟 Welcome to an interdisciplinary learning experience in math! 🤸♀️ The goal of this course is to help young students establish an appreciation for numbers and the patterns found in them. The multisensory experience offered by the course, namely: kinesthetic, visual, auditory and writing, will help the students understand math from different perspectives. 🤹 At the start of class, students will stand up and move to the rhythm of skip counting. They will chant, clap and stomp the times tables in unison, and use a small ball/hacky sack to coordinate their motor skills. By involving our whole body, we feel invigorated and awake. 🌈 Students will use their imagination to link the rhythmic quality of the times tables to the movement of animals. Students will use crayons to create symmetrical art known in Waldorf schools as “form drawing.” Benefits of form drawing include improved spatial orientation, visual tracking, a sense of balance and enhanced attention to detail. Short stories of animals and characters will accompany each drawing. We will use number circles (a printout is provided) to link geometry to the patterns found in multiplication tables. Students will be surprised to see the beauty behind numbers. 👓 To join this class, students should be able to recognize numbers and count on their own from 0 – 50. They should be familiar with the concept of multiplication so that they can follow along with the skip counting. 📅 Day 1: 2x, 5x, 11x table Day 2: review; 3x table Day 3: review; 4x table With smaller groups of students, we might finish a few minutes early, while with larger groups we might go over a few minutes at the end. Thanks for your understanding. "Multiplication in Movement! Part 2" covers Square Numbers and the 6x and 7x tables. ❤️ Click "Follow" on my teacher profile to find out new time slots as they become available. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
