Multiplication Fact Masters

Students will be taught tips and tricks for how to remember their basic multiplication facts. Students tend to struggle with the memorization piece of basic multiplication problems. They will then tend to spend so much time trying to compute it rather than knowing it by heart and being able to spit out the answers quickly and efficiently. It is a skill that is highly crucial for their future learning. This multi-day course will enable them to solve larger multiplication problems with more accuracy. We will cover multiplication problems ranging from 2x2, 3x2, 4x2, 5x2, etc.. and all the way up to 12x12. This class will be structured in a fun, interactive way, where we will discuss and compute with the best strategies in remembering certain times tables. Songs, hand motions, discussions, and repetitions will be used in order to enhance student learning. They will get many chances to interact with the teacher and their classmates as they quiz each other and offer advice of their own tips and tricks for retaining. Thankfully, every person learns differently and learning from each other can be quite beneficial as well. In order to be successful students will need to already have understanding of place value and how basic multiplication of whole numbers work.  Each week we will work on a particular times table; for example week 1: 2's, week 2: 3's, week 3: 4's, week 4: 5's, week 5: 6's, week 6: 7's and so forth in that same manner until we have reached multiplying by 12's in week 11.
