Description

Class Experience

Students will learn the basis of multiplication _______ groups of ______ = _______. We will talk about how to draw it out in picture form so that students understand how multiplication works. This will help lead students to understanding word problems better. I will go over the commutative property of multiplication - 5 X 7 = 35, 7 X 5 = 35...however the reason they need to understand this is for word problems. I will teach this through a variety of ways including art and math fluency. This...

Students will learn the basics of multiplication. They will understand how to set up basic multiplication word problems and solve them. Once they have learned the basics, they learn will about memorization and the importance of knowing their 0-12 multiplication facts.

Students will be sent one activity sheet per week to work on at home. Students will also be encouraged to get multiplication flash cards to work on by week 3.

Computer with zoom technology 
Spiral or composition notebook 
Pencil
Multiplication flash cards (by week 3)
Small Whiteboard
Whiteboard marker and cloth of erasing (a dry washcloth works well)
Deck of playing cards (optional - but is a lot of fun for the kiddos - this will turn into a game they can play with you at home).

55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
