Class experience
This course is designed to pique students' interest to learn world languages and incorporates visual and auditory skills. Speaking and active participation are essential requirements. The introductory class will teach students to recognize English to Spanish/Portuguese/French/Italian cognates and 25 basic words and phrases in these languages.
Romance languages use general rules to identify the gender of nouns and adjectives and will be taught in the traditional manner. I do not have pedagogical training to teach neutral gender. If your learner has a non binary identity, I highly recommend having this conversation with your learner prior to enrollment and clearly indicate the preferred gender/pronoun so I can address your learner appropriately (ie. Amiga for females or those who identify as females and Amigo for males or those who identify as males). In addition to being a licensed K-12 Spanish teacher, I have studied French, Italian, and Portuguese in college and have led multilingual summer camps.
