The learner's progress is constantly assessed every class with formative informal assessments. These assessments determine how the curriculum will be adjusted to best fit the needs of the students.Class Experience
This class is based on building a foundation of music reading, performance, technique, and aural skills as it applies to the drums. Each lesson starts with a warm up including various exercises taught and provided to the students. After the warm up, the lesson material will be presented to the students in the form of handouts, call and response activities, or from a lesson book. Topics that this class may cover include: -Rudimental Percussion Solos -Concert Percussion Solos -2 and 4 Mallet Keyboard Literature -Ethnic Drumming -Music Literacy -Drum Set Coordination and Facility in various styles of music -How to Write Drum Transcriptions I teach by engaging students in discussion, calling on students to answer questions, and encouraging students to be creative. I also teach by clearly demonstrating how a task is done for the students so that they can do it themselves. This class is highly interactive, as the students have a plethora of opportunities to ask questions and interact with the teacher during each class. Hello! My name is Calvin and I teach small group /private percussion lessons as well as piano lessons. I have been teaching in a variety of small and large group settings for 10 years. I hold two music degrees, including my Bachelor of Music in Music Education (Licensed K-12) as well as my Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance from the University of Akron, both being completed in 2019.
I believe every student deserves differentiated instruction according to his/her needs in the classroom so that they can reach their full potential. I am passionate, patient, and excited to see your student grow into a competent musician.
