Story problems can be a challenge for learners. This class focuses on how to understand the context of the story, identify what the question is asking us to find out as well as how to strategize to solve it!
Class experience
In this class, we will look at word problems from a literacy and math perspective so students can master step one, which is to understand what is happening in the story and what are they asking me to find out. We will be using Nearpod, so this way I am able to see how the learner is thinking. After I model and we discuss the scenario, the students will be given time on their own to come up with their own strategy of how to solve the problem.
