I truly believe that every student can learn. In my years as a special education teacher, I have assisted many struggling math students. My style is enthusiastic and uplifting. I feel strongly about the importance of positive reinforcement and verbal praise in sessions. I will keep your learner engaged with fun ways to grasp concepts and interact with material. I teach using both verbal and visual models and aids.

This small group summer camp will have constant interaction between learners and myself. Each class will have a similar format structured around the word problem topic of the class. I will lecture to teach the concept, with interactive questions throughout. We will be using PowerPoint slides. YouTube links will be added to our Classroom Posts with short clips to further explain examples for each concept visually. We will discuss each concept and complete practice questions as a whole group and independently within the PowerPoint slides. After the class, I will provide a note sheet/"cheat sheet" with steps for word problems and specific examples to save for future reference!

This on-going class requires some prior understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. However, learners at all ability and knowledge levels will be supported "where they are"!
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to solve a word problem. Students practice solving word problems with whole numbers, decimals, and fractions using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, through whole-group and independent class activities.
