This is an interactive circle-style class supporting early literacy using original stories and songs. I also incorporate STEM/STEAM and movement activities (appropriate for limited space) to help build self-confidence and community within the class. We will have a meet and greet in the beginning of each class with songs and movement games. Then we will read and tell original stories using books, props, puppets and/or a story board. I will demonstrate an age-appropriate STEAM activity (science, technology, engineering, art, math) using household materials the learners can observe. Finally we’ll end each class with a show and share, social connections and closing song. It’s a fun and engaging class for preschoolers.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Stephanie and I love sharing stories, movement activities, art and songs with young children and their families. I have experience homeschooling my own children and working in all kinds of educational settings. From Montessori and traditional classrooms to playhouse stages to rustic beachside homeschool group meet-ups, I have helped support early literacy, performing arts, and self-confidence in children through creative learning. Multicultural stories, songs, finger plays and STEM/STEAM and movement activities allow a special connection between class participants of all ages. I studied vocal music at Interlochen Arts Academy, have a BA in Interdisciplinary Humanities from Michigan State University, Montessori Primary Certification and my AAS in Early Childhood. I’ve worked with children and families for almost 30 years on 3 continents! I love to sing (of course!), garden, cook, read, travel, wander through dunes and along beaches. I am married and have 3 children, 2 rescue dogs, and a small flock of backyard chickens. I can’t wait to meet you!
