The teacher has owned and operated an elementary, middle, and high school age program for over 10 years, which included subjects in debate, history, science and math courses. The course is designed to be lighthearted, along with the topics. The teacher will require students to remember there are topics that can be sensitive to others and our goal is to respect others. The teacher has numerous years of discussing or stopping sensitive discussions from going too far.
Some students may want to actively participate in class and research the upcoming Presidents in order to bring interesting, fun, and factual information to the class. Students will be required to write a 5-sentence paragraph about the President we just learned about. The student will have 3 days after the class is completed to turn in the paragraph to the teacher. The teacher will review the paragraph and send feedback to each student. After enrollment, the student will receive the information on the new President we will be learning. Each student is encouraged to find additional information about each President.
- Pen and paper for notes - a computer or an IPAD for researching the weekly topic online - Books about the topic can be used but it not required. The teacher does not want the parent to purchase any books.
Assessments will be informal throughout the class, but after class, students will be required to write a 5 paragraph about what they learned.
