Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 5
Intermediate Level
Each class is divided into three parts: presentation, practice, and production. In the presentation stage, the teacher will present the material, and then the students will practice by doing, with guidance from the teacher. In the last stage, the students will apply what they have learned independently and get feedback from the teacher and other students.

The following are the weekly topics:
Week 1 - Progressive Tenses
Week 2 - Perfect Tenses
Week 3 - Modal Auxiliaries
Week 4 - Fragments and Run-ons
Week 5 - Comma Splices
Week 6 - Frequently Confused Words
Week 7 - Adjectives and Adverbs
Week 8 - Capitalization in nouns
Week 9 - Punctuation
Week 10 - Writing comparison and contrast paragraphs
Week 11 - Writing topic sentences
Week 12 - Writing supporting details

The classes are interactive and engaging, and each student is expected to participate fully. After the presentation of the material, the students will participate in language games and fun activities in order to review and check their understanding. Most of the work will be done in class, but students will be given optional homework assignments.
I am looking forward to meeting you and discussing language arts with you!

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been teaching English to native and nonnative speakers for over 20 years in the US and abroad. My approach is called "Focus-on-Form", which means my classes are very communicative and interactive in nature, but we still focus on grammar, pronunciation, or vocabulary. The most important aspect of my class for me is to provide a comfortable and enjoyable environment for the students and develop affection towards learning English in my students.

On a more personal note, I live in San Diego, California, with my fifteen-year-old daughter, our two dogs, and a cat. We love the outdoors, and we frequently explore our beautiful parks and beaches.
