Class experience
US Grade 6 - 9
In this class, learners will collaborate with one another on their own creative story ideas by going through several fun writing prompts each week that includes a new element in creative writing. Students will learn about different elements in creative writing and how they come together to build their very own story!
I have a Associate of Arts degree in Psychology, a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a Minor in Creative Writing and hold a Master of Arts in Teaching degree with a K-6 teaching licensure. I have also worked with teaching topics in creative writing to students in-person and virtually for the past 6+ years.
Homework Offered
Outside of class, students will be required to work on their own writing by answering the prompts given in class or working on a project of their own so that they have something to share with the group during the second class meeting during each week. This usually takes 5-10 minutes each week to work on and can often be done during class as well, so there is very little homework.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Assessments will be done formatively through observation during the second meeting of class each week when students share their own writing. This will not be done so by giving a grade, but is just meant for the teacher to know where each student is at in their writing so that the teacher can meet them where they are at and help them where they may need it.Grades Offered
- Something to write with and on (paper and writing utensil or technology that has the ability to write/type) - Personal writing project that the student would like constructive feedback on or would just like to share with the group (not required, but recommended)
