18 in-class hoursClass Experience
Students will find the following materials helpful during class. Please bring supplies and printouts to class. You will need: • Paper and pen/pencil • Colored pens, pencils, or crayons This multi-day science class will cover brain anatomy, the nervous system, how the brain functions, and how it regulates the systems of the body. Each week, I will supply handouts such as a vocabulary word and pronunciation key to enhance the learning experience. Students will explore the brain and nervous system from a scientific and personal perspective. They learn how the brain and nervous system function, and they will apply this knowledge to themselves. This is an 18-week course. To ensure that learners become familiar with the parts and functions of the nervous system, we will continually review its parts and functions. In each class, we will explore the parts of the nervous system that interact with the corresponding organ system in the body. Here is the course outline: Week 1: Brain Development from Newborn to Maturity Week 2: The Cerebrum: Frontal Lobe, Parietal Lobe, Occipital Lobe, Temporal Lobe Week 3: Cerebellum and Brainstem Week 4: Neurons and Neurotransmitters Week 5: Limbic System Week 6: Functions of the Brain Week 7: Multiple Intelligences Week 8: Central Nervous System Week 9: Peripheral Nervous System Week 10: Brain and Cardiovascular System Week 11: Brain and Respiratory System Week 12: Brain and Digestive System Week 13: Brain and Reproductive System Week 14: Brain and Endocrine System Week 15: Brain and Immune System Week 16: Brain and Musculoskeletal System Week 17: Brain and Excretory System Week 18: Brain and Integumentary System Do you learn by seeing, hearing, reading, writing, or doing hands-on activities? Students of all learning styles will gain knowledge while having a blast in this highly interactive, gamified class. We will achieve learning and interaction by using slide presentations, videos, and activities in class. At the end of each class, we will engage in quiz challenges on gamified platforms like Kahoot, Blooket, and Gimkit. This is an 18-week course with a one-time payment. Videos will be sent to students who aren't able to attend the live class. Class recordings are available after processing, typically 4 hours after class ends.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about brain anatomy, brain functions, the nervous system, and how the brain regulates the systems of the body.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from University of Alabama at Birmingham
I am fascinated by the flexibility, power, and function of the brain. I enjoy using my brain while studying science, reading, writing, solving brain teasers, and creating art. I have a degree in psychology with a concentration in biology and English. I teach biology classes and still read about biology just for fun. I cannot wait to share my love for and knowledge of biology with my students.
