Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
Florida Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Master's Degree in Education from University of Central Florida
Embarking on a teaching journey spanning decades, I've had the privilege of crafting lessons that ignite curiosity and nurture growth in my students – transforming them into writers, artists, scientists, mathematicians, advocates, avid readers, and critical thinkers. As an educator both in traditional classrooms and across diverse platforms since 1999, I've built a toolkit of methods to bring lessons to life in ways I once only dreamed of. I'm genuinely thrilled to invite your child along for what promises to be a unique adventure where learning takes unexpected turns!

My Professional Journey
With a B.F.A. in Art History from the Savannah College of Art and Design and a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Central Florida, I've navigated the world of education with state certification in Florida for various subjects and grade levels. Since the late '90s I've left my mark on Central Florida schools, achieving National Board Certification in 2008. As a published author for children and young adults, my latest work is set to make its way into the world in 2024!

A Peek into My Teaching Persona
My innovative teaching style earned three Disney's Teacherrific Awards (2002, 2003, and 2005). In 2008, I ventured to Japan with the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund teacher's program, and designed lessons to share the beauty of their culture upon my return. One notable chapter unfolded in the 2009 Disney's Environmentality Challenge when my students took on the menace of plastic grocery bags. Their resourcefulness garnered recognition from our town, the State of Florida, and the Walt Disney Company, proving that sometimes the best lessons come from unexpected places.
