US Grade Kindergarten - 1
Welcome! I have taught literacy to K-12 for 7 years and am a certified English teacher. I strongly believe that the best way to learn to read is by utilizing a Science of Reading approach. This class provides your learner with the following: -Explicit instruction in phonemic awareness -Systematic, explicit instruction in phonics -Frequent Oral Reading -Teaching vocabulary both explicitly and in context This is a group class to help advanced Kindergarteners, 1st, and struggling 2nd graders...
This class will follow the following Grade 1-2 standards: 1. Know and apply grade-level phonics when reading and speaking 2. Spell words correctly and write complete simple sentences 3. Be able to infer word meanings from images and context clues 4. Read with intonation and fluency
I am a certified K-12 reading/English/writing teacher with a special education endorsement. I have a Masters degree in English Education. I am a literacy specialist and a Teacher Consultant for Indiana Writing Project.
