Description
Class Experience
In my Read Aloud and Talk About It classes, the goal is to present a children's book as a performance. Combining both my theatre and librarian backgrounds, I will endeavor to make each retelling engaging and exciting. Currently, my read aloud classes will cover: awareness of self, community, service, and nature. In most, we will (metaphorically) 'take a hike, through a book' making discoveries in and about both the world around us and ourselves. Through the use of props, electronic teaching...
Students will learn: - Vocabulary - Sight Words - Critical Thinking Skills - Appreciation for Literature
There will not be written work assigned, but rather, students may be asked, for example, to: explore nature, draw a picture, retell the story to a parent or sibling. I love when students share back to me how they carry their classroom experiences out into the world. Also, I will share the book information for each lesson for parents interested in expanding their libraries.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
- Apple Books
- CamTwist
Any assessment will be informal.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
