A huge factor in how much children enjoy reading is WHAT they are reading. To encourage and nurture student's love of reading, this book club focuses on socializing and discussing the wild, on-page adventure known as the Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan. This series follows an orphaned boy who is assigned to apprentice a Ranger (skilled trackers responsible for helping to protect the fictional Kingdom of Araluen). It's a fantasy adventure full of action, heart, and wonderful characters! Perfect for readers age 10-14. In this class, students will meet 2x weekly and we will discuss one book each week. We will discuss the first half of that book on Monday and the last half of the book on Thursday of that week. Students will be expected to read the material outside of class PRIOR to the class discussion so they can share their thoughts with their friends in class. Reading a great book and connecting with likeminded readers really helps engage students and encourage their love of reading! This is a LONG series (11 books) but it's a fast paced and exciting read! Please note that the current section has already begun but I have a section starting June 1st- to see the reading schedule for the June section, please scroll to the bottom. Our class discussions will follow the schedule laid out below (for the section starting on March 7) Monday, June 13- Ruins of Gorlan by John Flanagan (Chapters 1-16) June 16- Ruins of Gorlan by John Flanagan (Chapter 17-32) June 20- The Burning Bridge by John Flanagan (Chapters 1 through 16) June 23- The Burning Bridge by John Flanagan (Chapters 17 through 34) June 27- The Icebound Land by John Flanagan (Chapters 1-18) June 30- The Icebound Land by John Flanagan (Chapter 19- Chapter 37) No Class July 4 July 7- Oakleaf Bearers (Entire Book) July 11- Erik's Ransom (pages 1-209) July 14- Erak's Ransom (pages 210-441) No Class July 18-25 July 28-The Sorcerer in The North by John Flanagan (Entire Book) August 1- The Siege of Macindaw by John Flanagan (pages 1- 169) August 4-The Siege of Macindaw by John Flanagan (pages 170- 338) August 8- Kings of Clonmel by John Flanagan (Pages 1-154) August 11- Kings of Clonmel by John Flanagan (Pages 155-307) August 15- Halt's Peril by John Flanagan (Pages 1-208) August 18- Halt's Peril by John Flanagan (Pages 209-416) August 22- The Emperor of Nihon-Ja by John Flanagan (Pages 1-232) August 25- The Emperor of Nihon-Ja by John Flanagan (Pages 233-464) August 29- The Lost Stories by John Flanagan (Pages 1- 232) September 1- The Lost Stories by John Flanagan (Pages 233-464) September 5- Series wrap up!
