In this course, we will be doing small group guided reading lessons. Guided Reading will help your child develop reading proficiency, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and phonetic awareness.

Class Experience

Please note, this is an ongoing class. Your child can join class at any time.

A small group will help give your child more opportunity to practice the concepts from this class. Please take a look at the following list of book examples below to see if this class is a fit for your child.  Your child does not have to be in this grade to take this class. Your child is welcome to take this class if they are reading at a grade 3 level.

Your child will:
* Learn several reading strategies and how to apply them.  
* Gain an understanding of the story through comprehension questions.  
* Learn sight words and vowels through word work activities.
* Practice fluency, vocabulary and phonic awareness.
* Practice turn taking, listening skills, patience and social awareness.

A piece of paper, pencil and colour pencils.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
