45 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
This is a weekly class for students who want to learn crochet basics on a semi regular basis or students who just need help answering a few questions. Experienced and new students are welcome to bring projects they are working on for extra help, talk with each other, and craft together, or come and learn basic techniques and stitches or how to read a pattern. This is a 45 minute long class where we will learn basic techniques and stitches to start you on your way to crocheting. We will start by learning how to do a basic chain and single crochet stitches. Once students are able to crochet a basic block in these stitches they can learn to create projects like scarves, wash cloths and blankets using these stitches. Students who already know the basics and are working on projects are welcome to come and get extra help or talk crochet with other like minded students. Session topics will be learner directed or dictated weekly based on their progress and educational needs. Class progression will be loosely based on the following progression, though students with experience are encouraged to join and ask questions based on their crocheting needs at any point during the course. Week 1: Hand possitioning, holding your hook, chaining and single stitch Week 2: Single stitch, double stitch and trebble stitch Week 3: Magic circle and working in the round Week 4: Planning projects and reading a pattern Students will need 1 ball or skein of worsted weight yarn and a crochet hook for each session or a current crochet project they are working on. This is a basic introduction class, please see my other listings for learning other stitches and beyond the basics.
