In this class, students will participate in a fun and high energy small group session with a live teacher, that focuses on strategies and skills used to improve a child's oral reading fluency, expression, accuracy, and decoding strategies. Participating in this class will provide the student with resources that they can keep to use for future practice, and students should leave class feeling more confident in their skills as a reader! Students will participate in seasonal activities and use fluency phrases, poems, passages, and sight words to help build their skills! It is highly recommend that parents are able to keep/print off the resources provided by the teacher for optimal success!

This class is designed to support struggling readers, specifically students who need additional practice, resources, and strategies for oral reading fluency, accuracy, and decoding.

Pre-Requisites
Students should know all letters and their sounds, and have a solid understanding of blending letters together to make sounds. A basic understanding of how to read is required, as this class is focused on improving reading rate/accuracy.
Supply List
A printer would be beneficial for printing the resources used in each lesson, however, it is NOT essential.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Mrs. Smith has 18 years of experience as a certified teacher, and has taught all elementary grades during her time in the classroom. For the first 10 years of her career, she taught in a regular brick-and-mortar classroom (in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas), and transitioned into the virtual setting 8 years ago. For the last 8 years she has specialized in teaching children to read via Zoom, and has a variety of tools and strategies that she uses to do this successfully!
