Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
Beginner Level
Students will be taught the fundamental knowledge needed to properly write and perform 8 beat rhythms using whole, half, quarter, and eighth notes. This is a self-paced class with instructional videos, links to fun play along videos, and quick feedback from your instructor. Students will submit a video or sound recording at the end performing a rhythm that the student composed. A picture of the rhythm will need to be uploaded as well to fully complete the course. Instructor is available to answer any questions almost anytime, even afternoons and evenings.

Unit 1: Introduction and Basic Knowledge
Lesson 1:
Introduction/Need to Know Vocabulary
 Students will get a brief intro on the class as well as go over the need to know/nice to know vocabulary.

Lesson 2:
Rhythm and Note Duration
 Students will define rhythm and go over the different lengths of notes and rests. 
Unit 2: Sounds to the Symbols
Lesson 3:
What do the notes sound like?
 Students will hear the different notes performed in order from longest to shortest. 
Unit 3: Let's Become Master Beginner Musicians!
Lesson 4:
Applying our knowledge!
 Students will cover the rhythms they will count/play along with in the YouTube video. Then, students will practice with the YouTube videos listed for the class before completing their final project.
