In this ongoing class, we will meet once a week to play Adopt Me in a private server. We we will practice safe online play and digital citizenship skills, such as keeping personal information private, using fair trading in the game, and knowing how to report scammers. Learners will interact the entire class through voice and text chat, but the teacher may momentarily mute the class at times to make an announcement or let a student share something with the class. The entire class will take place on a Roblox: Adopt Me private server. We will play the game as normal, doing fair trades and caring for pets, as well as play mini games within Adopt Me, like “Pick A Door” and “Spin the Wheel.” During these mini games EVERY learner will have the opportunity to win a fly/ride neon pet. The pet selection will vary week to week and include neon fly ride pets of different rarities and values. There will be at least one legendary neon fly ride pet in this selection. Note: Students won’t be able to choose their neon fly/ride (NFR) pet, but will win one at random. The mini games for the next few upcoming weeks are listed below: Week One: Nov. 17th: Pick A Turkey Week Two: Nov. 24th: Thanksgiving Holiday (No Class) Week Three: Dec. 1st: Wheel of Gifts Week Four: Dec. 8th: Pick an Elf
Learning Goals
Students will learn the rules of Adopt Me while practicing fair trading, safe gaming, and socializing skills.

Parental Guidance
We will be using Roblox, which is considered an approved third-party tool, during our class. Students will need to have their own Roblox account and know their username prior to class. This can be set up for free by going to www.Roblox.com. Throughout the zoom call, I will be sharing my Adopt Me screen as we play and learn the game together.
Supply List
It’s recommended for the learner to have two devices: one for the zoom meeting and one for the Adopt Me game. The student can still participate with one device, but may have difficulty running both apps at the same time. For example, the student may have to leave the game at times in order to open the device camera for zoom or to mute/unmute during class discussion.

Hi Students and Families!
My name is Meaghen Owen and I offer Roblox: Adopt Me classes on a private server. Every student receives an out of game egg to raise during the class. We also have fun playing hide and seek, dressing up our pets, decorating our houses, and having races! I hope to see you in our ongoing Adopt Me classes!
Why did I start these Adopt Me Classes?
I was inspired to start these classes when my own daughters (ages 8 and 10) became interested in playing Adopt Me. I created a profile to monitor their play and, although they weren't allowed to talk to anyone outside our family, I was concerned by the conversations taking place that they could still read and the risk of scamming. I discovered how important it was for kids to have a place to play the game they love in a safe and kid friendly environment.
What is my professional background?
I received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Mississippi in 2012. During my eight years of teaching PreK, 2nd, and 4th grade in a public school setting, I’ve gain endorsements in both Early Childhood Education (Pre-K) and as a Library Media Specialist. I’ve also received my National Board Certification in Early to Middle Childhood Literacy.
What do I do other than Outschool?
I am a full time librarian at the same public school I was a student in. I love spending time with my husband, Kevin, and two daughters, Maggie and Lauraen. I love gardening, reading, and dream of having my own farm/homestead one day. I live in a fairly rural area neighboring the county that Elvis Presley was born and raised! Our grandparents even attended the same elementary school! I also live less than one mile from the largest Amish community in the Deep South Region of the United States.
