US Grade 2 - 9
This class is designed to be a help desk for students working on homework pertaining to the subject areas of English Language- Arts, Reading, and Social Studies. In this course, students can work on any piece of homework or topic they are struggling with. My vision for this course is to be a place for students to get help with a struggling concept, share ideas and thoughts on their work, and improve their skills in the classroom. This course is created to be a one-on-one course so each student gets the individualized help that they need. Students that enroll will need to come to class with something in mind that they want to work on, an example or rubric for their homework, or something they need help with. Here is an example of what class might look like: Student A has an argumentative writing assignment that he wants help with. I can help in several areas; I can proofread and then discuss areas of weakness to improve the essay. I could help with writing techniques and style. I could also help with organizing and getting the writing process started. Example #2 Student B has a test in social studies coming up in a few days and is needing help studying. I can help in several ways; I can quiz the student based off of the study guide, I could help the student learn new study habits and tricks, and I can also help the student understand any topic area she is struggling with before the test. This class is meant to help students better their learning experience and be a quick help to immediate problems. This is not a tutoring class where I make the content for the student to learn. The student must come with an idea of what they need to work on. This class will not have designated topics each week. The topics are student directed because it will vary on each students needs and topics they are wanting to work on.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their learning experience by practicing topics they are struggling with.
