Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Run away with me to Anne’s Land in magical Prince Edward Island, Canada! In this five week Book Study, we will be enjoying Lucy Maud Montgomery’s world famous novel, “Anne of Green Gables”, and creating a homemade vintage “Kindred Spirit Journal”. Maybe you have read the book before and want to enjoy it again with other readers. Or maybe you have watched the Netflix series “Anne With an E”, or the 1985 movies with Megan Follows! Then this course is for you! No matter if you have read the book before, watched a movie or show based on “Anne of Green Gables”, or if you have NEVER experienced this amazing novel in any form, I would love for you to join the course!

In addition to reading, discussing, and gushing over Anne’s heartwarming and hilarious adventures, I look forward to sharing my own firsthand experiences and descriptions of Prince Edward Island. I am blessed to own a 1904 farmhouse on PEI’s north shore, five minutes from the REAL “Lake of Shining Waters”. This area of PEI is away from much of the touristy hype. Learners will get to ‘explore’ a more authentic version of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s beloved home province along with me. Everything you’ve imagined about PEI is true, and I can hardly wait to start this literary journey with some fellow kindred spirits!

Learners will read sections of the book prior to each meeting(no reading is required for the first meeting, however). Book Club meetings will typically follow this pattern: Review of main events(plot), favorite quotes and vocabulary, and a fun discussion. We will work on our homemade journals most meetings. All meetings will include me sharing authentic PEI anecdotes, pictures, stories, or maps so children will really feel like they’re getting the “inside scoop”!
