I have been a teacher in brick-and-mortar schools for 30 years. During this time, I taught reading and hosted book clubs as both a teacher and a Library Media Specialist. The book does contain the theme of bullying. I am qualified to teach this theme as I am certified as a teacher of children with Emotional and Behavior Disorders. I spent the majority of my 30-year career teaching in this field.
Homework will consist of reading sections, approximately 10-12 pages of the book per day.
Mr. Lemoncello's Library Olympics- this can be a book, audiobook, or electronic version of the book.
The learner's progress will be assessed informally for comprehension based on participation in the book club activities and discussions.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
This book does discuss book banning as well as burning books. Many of the titles listed are books that have been banned throughout history. The members of the book club will be responsible for some of the discussion topics related to the book.
