Would you rather read a book or solve some puzzles? In this class, you can do both. Have you ever won something? Kyle has. Only now he feels like he won't be on top for long. In this 5-week long book club, we will learn more about the second adventure in Mr. Lemoncello's Library book series. Students will use higher-order thinking skills in order to solve challenges, expand their vocabulary, and make story-to-life connections. Students will be encouraged to share their thoughts about the book and make literature-to-life connections. The first week of class will be spent getting to know each other and making predictions about the book. Due to copyright laws, no part of the book will be read during class time. Each week, students will be required to read a portion of the book, complete some activities including vocabulary challenges as well as responding to open-ended questions related to the book, and responding to other learners' questions and comments. This will help promote interaction between the learners as well as with me. The students will need to be prepared for class each week. We will also do activities that are related to the events going on in our reading. For example, during our first class, we will do a word jumble activity. The final activity will be an Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library Escape Room based on the previous activities and discussions from all of the previous lessons in the class. Week 1: Getting to know each other, Word Jumble Puzzle, book talk Week 2: Book Discussion, Activity based on the book Week 3: Book Discussion, Activity based on the book Week 4: Book Discussion, Activity based on the book Week 5 Book Discussion, Bonus Code from Book, Escape Room **For the first week of class, the learners will not be required to have already begun reading the book. We will do introductions, a book talk, and a game related to what they will be reading. The purpose of this class is to promote a love of reading as well as increase vocabulary and comprehension skills. *** Reading Escape Mr. Lemoncello's Library is beneficial to understanding some aspects of this book. *** I do not cancel classes due to low enrollment.
