Do you have what it takes to win Mr. Lemoncello's All-Star Breakout Game? In this class, you can find out. In this 5-week multi-day class, students will have the opportunity to read about Mr. Lemoncello and the many wonderful challenges he created in the library in Alexandriaville. Students will use higher-order thinking skills in order to solve challenges, expand their vocabulary, and make text-to-self connections. Students will be encouraged to share their thoughts about the book and make literature-to-life connections. The first week of class will be spent getting to know each other and making predictions about the book. Due to copyright laws, no part of the book will be read during class time. Each week, students will be required to read a portion of the book, complete some activities including vocabulary challenges as well as responding to open-ended questions related to the book, and responding to other learners' questions and comments. This will help promote interaction between the learners as well as with me. The students will need to be prepared for class each week. We will also do activities that are related to the events going on in our reading. For example, the learners may need to solve a rebus puzzle or a logic puzzle. The final activity will be an Escape Room based on the story, previous activities, and discussions from all of the previous lessons in the class.
