Do you have what it takes to win Mr. Lemoncello's Great Library Race? In this class, you can find out. In this 5-week multi-day class, students will have the opportunity to read about Mr. Lemoncello and the many wonderful challenges he created in the library in Alexandriaville. Students will use higher-order thinking skills in order to solve challenges, expand their vocabulary, and make text-to-self connections. Students will be encouraged to share their thoughts about the book and make literature-to-life connections. The first week of class will be spent getting to know each other and making predictions about the book. Due to copyright laws, no part of the book will be read during class time. Each week, students will be required to read a portion of the book, complete some activities including vocabulary challenges, respond to open-ended questions related to the book, and respond to other learners' questions and comments. This will help promote interaction between the learners as well as with me. The students will need to be prepared for class each week. We will also do activities that are related to the events going on in our reading. For example, the learners may need to solve a rebus or logic puzzle. The final activity will be an Escape Room based on the story, previous activities, and discussions from the previous lessons in the class. The themes included in this book are Bullying, Cheating, and Teamwork. Week 1: Getting to know each other, Book talk, Activity based on the book Week 2: Book Discussion, Activity based on the book Week 3: Book Discussion, Activity based on the book Week 4: Book Discussion, Activity based on the book Week 5 Book Discussion, Escape Room **For the first week of class, the learners will not be required to have already begun reading the book. We will do introductions, a book talk, and a game related to what they will be reading. The purpose of this class is to promote a love of reading as well as increase vocabulary and comprehension skills. **Reading Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library, Mr. Lemoncello's Library Olympics, Mr. Lemoncello's Great Library Race, Mr. Lemoncello's All-Star Breakoug Game are prerequisites for this class.
Learning Goals
Students will be using higher-order thinking skills in order to respond to challenges and open-ended questions related to the story Mr. Lemoncello and the Titanium Ticket. They will also be improving skills related to responding to literature during this class.

Parental Guidance
The themes in this book include bullying and cheating. Another theme is the loss of loved ones. The learners will lead some of the discussions based on the story.

The book does contain the theme of bullying. I am qualified to teach this theme as I am certified as a teacher of children with Emotional and Behavior Disorders. I spent the majority of my 30-year career teaching in this field.
