Class experience
Let's GO! Time to celebrate all things SUPER MARIO! Princess Peach needs us to rescue her from Bowser! Students will practice problem solving, communication, working as a team, and other important social skills. They will have fun using their imaginations and letting their love of video games inspire them to try new things and make new friends and connections. Students will be free to express and share their fandom and excitement about their special interest in a safe, inclusive environment, with an emphasis on fun, celebration, and cooperation.
I'm so excited to share my love of all things NINTENDO with you! I've been teaching STEAM and art classes through fun, engaging topics like these to preschool through middle school for 8 years through an independent STEAM education company, as well as at a local arts facility. I'm really looking forward to connecting with new students here on Outschool. Not only will we be learning and sharing about Super Mario (yay!)--but we'll sneak in important social and communication skills, art and building practice, problem solving, and more! I'm a geek at heart, and strive to create an inclusive space where we can celebrate the fandoms that make us smile.
--Show-and-tell item related to Super Mario, Nintendo, or other video game fandom (book, toy, or fact to share) --Access to a black-and-white printer --Creative building/drawing/sculpting materials (ie paper and markers, plastic building bricks or other construction toys, clay or playdough, etc) --Scissors --Glue stick --Clear tape --Drinking straw or unsharpened pencil --Coloring supplies --Popsicle stick or other item that can be used to create a "stick puppet"-type craft --Paper cup (green, if available--if not, then any paper cup is fine)
Regarding supplies/activities: Movement activities are basic in nature (simple gross-motor activities) but please be sure to provide adult supervision if you feel it is necessary. Participation in movement activities is never required and the instructor is happy to provide alternative ideas is the learner requires any special accommodations. Please contact the teacher with any concerns. All creative and problem-solving challenges will be age-appropriate in their nature and execution. Allergy Note: Playdough may contain wheat, which could cause an allergic reaction if ingested in those sensitive to wheat gluten or with Celiac disease. I am happy to provide a recipe for gluten-free playdough upon request, or suggest alternative supplies.
