Revised on January 12, 2022 Vowels can be tricky but they are also extremely necessary. In this course, students focus on vowel sounds. I have training and certification in many phonetic and reading curriculums, programs, and theories including my Master's Degree. My classes use movement, music, art, funny tricks, repetition, and games to learn phonetic sounds. I believe learning through doing and repetition are very effective. It is important for students to master the vowel sounds. Every word in the English language has a vowel. We will talk about how a sound looks, feels, and sounds. This course is great for learners new to reading to learners that need a review. It is also great for students learning English. I am flexible with ages. Every child learns at a different rate. I have years of practice differentiating and welcome all students. Every class will include movement. We will act out tricks to remember sounds. We will make the sounds with our bodies and hands. Everyone needs to move and younger children need to move even more. Games are played cooperatively. We leave out competition between peers for other parts of life. Students should have a piece of paper and coloring supplies for each meeting. We will not focus on writing but instead focus on the sound of letters using pictures. This class is engaging and vibrant. Week 1 Long A and Short A The Apple A Visual recognition, words with long and short a, game, and song Week 2 Long E and Short E The Grandfather E Visual recognition, words with long and short e, Stand Up-Sit Down Game, and song Week 3 Long I The Icky I Visual recognition, words with long and short i, All About I, and song Week 4 Long O The Doctor O Visual Recognition, words with long and short o, That's Not a Long O Sound!, and song Week 5 Long U The Up, Up, and Away U Visual Recognition, words with long and short u, cooperative storytelling, and song Week 6 Long vs Short Vowel Sounds Vowel Song and Dance, Did you Hear its Name Game, Who will win the battle between long and short vowels? Do you know what it means when a class is marked ongoing? Each class is independent. A fresh activity occurs each week. Learners do not need prior experience. Learners can subscribe and stay for all the classes while other learners may drop in from time to time. Each week the enrollment fee is withdrawn on Sunday. It is easy to stop the subscription. In my classes, I enjoy seeing learners every week and I also enjoy meeting new students. It is easy to come and go in any of my ongoing classes.
