Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
• To inspire each Minecraft architect, and expand their building creativity.
• To give builders a chance to unite and share their knowledge with the class.
• To help builders bump their skill level up through the aid of the students in the class.
• To help builders work with a build deadline, as they also pay attention to detail.

The FLEX class learning goal:
• To give students an opportunity to navigate the Outschool classroom forum efficiently.
I'm a mom, gameschooler, and learner FOR LIFE! Minecraft helps make this so much more fun!

Being a gameschooling family, Minecraft has been a part of our homeschool days since the purchase of our first copy...for the XBOX 360. Since then we've expanded the collection, and can be found playing on numerous platforms! It's taken on many roles through the years, in our home, and it's been really fun to come up with creative ways to add in another Minecraft project here and there. I love that it offers so many different ways to explore, and so many different ways to be creative. It really does let kids do what they want in a world all for them. Allowing their imagination to run wild, one block at a time!! I have enjoyed teaching my "Minecraft Builders Challenge Clubs" on Outschool and wanted to come up with a way to make it available to more students. With the ongoing club students come up with the ideas for each challenge, but with these FLEX classes I get to come up with them! I have really enjoyed that! Theme builds and book builds have to be 2 of my most favorite things to do in Minecraft. I'm a creative, peaceful mode girl!

I can't wait to see what these movie world builds turns out like. I am really excited to see how this challenge, and movie, will inspire every single architect that enrolls in this class. My intention for this class is to spark interest in themes students might not have thought of on their own. It will also give everyone a chance to see the different design choices that can be dreamed up on this versatile gaming platform. This class is designed for students with Minecraft knowledge. There will be no lessons on how to use Minecraft. This class is all about designing a build that revolves around the movie. How each student interprets the challenge is up to them.

I really enjoy teaching my Minecraft Builders Book Clubs. Being able to pair a Minecraft build challenge with a movie had to be the next Outschool class I added to my list. I look forward to seeing what each student comes up! So, grab your popcorn and let's get this movie 'n build started!
**IMPORTANT** Students will need to be familiar with Minecraft, and know how to navigate the platform they choose to build on. There will be no lessons on how to use Minecraft. ALL Minecraft skill levels are welcome! Students will also need to know how to take screenshots of their Minecraft builds, and upload them into the classroom. Depending on the device, steps to do this vary. It is important each student understand the device, and its settings, they are working with prior to enrolling in this class.

Week 1-
•Students will need to watch the movie, at their own leisure, during the first week of this class.
•A movie scavenger hunt will need to be printed up, and completed during the movie viewing. Discussion will take place in the classroom forum regarding this activity. (For those that can't print up the PDF, it can be easily written down on paper.)
•Students will begin designing their movie themed build based off of the movie, YOGI BEAR (2011 Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.).

Week 2-
•A brainstorming build activity will be posted inside the classroom forum, and all students will need to post comments accordingly.
•Students will continue designing/building their movie world in Minecraft. They will be need to post a "teaser" screenshot for the class to view inside the classroom forum by the end of week 2.

Week 3-
•Students will continue building their movie world in Minecraft. Students will be encouraged to start uploading screenshot pictures, if they haven't already.
•Students will need to participate in a zany movie poll, through the link provided to them during the fourth week of class. All answers will need to be submitted by the end of this week.
•An optional "extra" build challenge will be posted at the start of the third week. A video will be posted explaining these details to the students. For those students craving more build time, this "extra" build will give them that opportunity.

Week 4-
•Students will need to have ALL their build pictures uploaded by Friday of this week.
•Students will need to participate in the Kahoot! movie trivia.
•Students will need to set time aside during this week to browse through the uploaded pictures their classmates post, and leave each builder a comment. Taking time to do this will be part of each students responsibility.
Remember, this is a FLEX class. There are NO LIVE MEETINGS scheduled for this class. Students will be able to find all class material needed inside the classroom forum, and it's up to each student to build in Minecraft at their own leisure. A FLEX class benefit! I will be there to help encourage students each week, and assist as they upload pictures, post comments, and participate in the enrichment activities. Another FLEX class benefit! It is important to note, uploading the build pictures and posting comments inside the class threads helps enhance the class experience for all those enrolled. Participation in the classroom forum conversations is required.
