Movie Camp - Seabiscuit to Secretariat: Horses in Films, 3-Week Sessions
In this movie club, students will watch a film each week and spend class learning about and discussing the real/fictional horse(s) featured in the story. Each session is THREE WEEKS and will be scheduled as a unit that repeats.

Description
Class Experience
This class will encourage an appreciation for horses and the equestrian sports, while fostering a love for film. The club will develop each student’s skills in: •Critical thinking •Public speaking •Writing and reading •History •Film review •Group participation
Hilary is a professional journalist and equestrian with a background in teaching and tutoring. She currently owns a 22-horse training facility, rides dressage for the United States in top competition and freelances as a journalist for publications listed as American Horse Publications. She is the former senior editor at Dressage Today magazine and used to work as a master tutor at the Princeton Review. She was the equestrian director at a well-known overnight camp in Maine and has ridden horses for over 30 years.
Each week students must watch a film and complete one-page homework assignment of questions related to the movie.
A one-page homework assignment will be given per week in the classroom.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
- A movie platform
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
Movies will be G to PG-13 in ratings, hence the age group of the class.
