In this structured, once-a-week dance course, we will develop a stronger understanding of beginning ballet barre combinations and techniques using a mix of classical ballet accompaniments and instrumental variations of popular hit songs. This class is designed as a follow-along through observation and physical application. Dancers will practice concentration and endurance building techniques through progressive lesson plans that rotate each month to become more proficient in fundamental movements. Ballet II is designed with a light-hearted approach that emphasizes mannered studies for determined dancers. In this level, we will focus on developing coordination of the body, musicality, proper rotation techniques, and sustained focus. Barre combinations will become more detailed than Ballet I while introducing port de bras, one hand at the barre, and a repertoire of jumps and turns in preparatory form. Each class will consist of: • Introduction/Warm-Up • Barre • Stretching • Center Floorwork • Reverence ----- Dancers should be able to confidently identify and perform the following before enrolling in Ballet II: • Foot and Arm Positions • Rond de Jambe à Terre et en l'air, Dévelopé, Envelopé, Frappé, Piqué • Changement, Pas de Chat, Chaîne • Passé, Rétire, Coupé, Sur le cou-de-pied, Relevé If your dancer is brand new to ballet or not quite ready, head over to "Movement Academy: Intro to Ballet" or "Movement Academy: Ballet I" to get started! The differences between the Ballet levels Intro, I, II, and III are based on the level of detail required to execute proper ballet technique and the complexity of combinations. The higher the level, the more serious and structured the class.
Learning Goals
This class is designed to build upon the fundamentals of ballet barre work and build control through body awareness. The recommended time in Ballet II is a minimum of two (2) years before advancing to Ballet III - unless assessed otherwise.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been studying dance for 25 years and am a firm believer that ballet sets dancers up for success! Ballet teaches dancers control, precision, and self-discipline while providing both physical fitness and mental stimulation. I love how calming and poetic this discipline is while building confident dancers for life.
