20 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
During this fun one time class, we will be dancing and singing along to some of our favorite Nursery Rhymes! Students will practice keeping a steady beat and singing in tune! Music is so important for young learners because it benefits all areas of child development from motor skills, intellectual abilities, literacy, and social/emotional maturity! The mind and the body are forced to work together as they learn how to keep steady beats and sing in tune! During this course, I will briefly introduce solfege which is a very helpful tool to help children sing scales and recognize pitch. We will also practice clapping different rhythms together in the midst of our fun singing and dancing! From our ABCs to full body movements with "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes," this will be a great musical workout for these little ones! They won't even recognize they are learning!
Learning Goals
Students will keep a steady beat and sing with proper pitch!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Toccoa Falls College
Hello! My name is Rebecca Weber and I am so excited to meet you in the classroom! I have a degree in Music Education from Toccoa Falls College. I graduated at the top of my music class and specialize in piano and voice! While in high school and college, I participated in several musical ensembles including chorus, Varsity singers, piano accompaniment, concert band, jazz band, handbell choir, women's ensemble, and musical theater!
I have been tutoring and teaching private music lessons since 2008, and started my first full time high school music position in 2012. Teaching music just gets better the older I get. I absolutely love what I do! I love watching students grow in their musicianship and the pride and joy they feel from creating something absolutely beautiful. I have experience with all ages from 3-18, and have taught one on one, large groups of more than 100, regular classroom size of about 20-30, and small groups of 5-10.
In 2018, I also started teaching ESL online with VIPKid. I received a specialized VIPKid ESL certification and have worked with zero English beginners all the way to advanced grammar level students! I have learned to love this just as much as teaching music because watching my students make huge strides in their ability to communicate and understand a brand new language has been so rewarding! I have been with students who spoke no English and now engage in free talk conversations about any and everything! What an amazing journey!
I look forward to sharing these skills with new students on Outschool. I have grown to truly appreciate online education and the flexibility it offers both students and teachers. Through Outschool, I will be offering a wide range of music lessons for all ages and levels including music theory, ear training, music history, performance skills, rhythm and pitch, and more! I believe music is a necessary skill to have as it improves cognitive ability in every other area of our lives including social/emotional skills, motor skills, creative skills, and intellectual abilities. Also, I will be offering English and ESL classes for students learning to read and write. Learning a second language can be intimidating, but I have wonderful success with students who have grown to love their English lessons with me!
Outside of the classroom, you'll find me with my family! I have three kids and together we love playing board games, playing fetch with our dogs, baking cookies, watching Disney movies, and taking road trips :)
Thank you so much for the opportunity to teach your child! I look forward to meeting you in the classroom!
