Move and Groove Spanish Story Time: Los Amigos Animales
What's included
1 live meeting
45 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this course, students will listen to a story in Spanish about four animal friends' efforts to get a banana down from a tree. Before we delve into the story, students will act out key verbs and answer yes/no questions to identify key animal characters in Spanish. This will facilitate comprehension, get students moving/engaged with the story content, and allow students to acquire the language. After we have reviewed vocabulary, students will listen to the story in which a monkey, a rabbit, a turtle and a bunny all try to get a banana down from a tree, discovering at the end that the best way to get the job done is by working together. Class will end as students draw their favorite scene from the story and answer questions in Spanish surrounding their drawing using simple yes/no and either/or questions (e.g. "¿Es el mono o la tortuga?" "¿El mono sube el árbol o salta?"). We will end and begin class with simple greeting/goodbye songs in Spanish as a warm-up and send-off. Students will receive a drag and drop activity with audio prior to class to introduce essential words. While this is optional, completing it before class will allow students to get the most out of the story. This class is great for beginning students as all language will be made comprehensible through visuals and gestures. Students of all proficiency levels are welcome for a fun, engaging story time!
Learning Goals

¡Hola a todos! My name is Sra. Frailey. Ever since I was very young, I have been passionate about learning new languages and exploring global cultures. Some of my first experiences with Spanish were through games and conversation platforms online. I know the profound impact that virtual resources and experiences can have on students' lifelong learning. As such, I am thrilled to provide engaging class experiences to students now through Outschool!
Regarding my qualifications, I hold my BS. Ed. in K-12 Spanish Education. I have studied abroad in Puebla, Mexico and love to share the food, language and culture with my students as it interests them. I believe that languages are best learned in the context of community. For this reason, I always strive to foster a positive, encouraging environment within the classroom. I generally strive to teach students through conversation, problem-solving activities, games, or other activities that require students to use the language in a way that is similar to real life, engaging, and enjoyable.
No matter what grade level I am teaching, I always aim to teach students in Spanish as much as possible. My number one goal when I'm teaching is to make students feel at ease and make the language comprehensible using gestures, visuals, synonyms and other strategies that let students know what I'm talking about from Day 1. If your student has felt they "can't understand Spanish" in other classes, this may be the one that makes it click!
If you have any questions or would like more information about my classes/teaching style, please feel free to reach out. I hope to see you in class! :)
