Class Experience

This class will allow students to practice math skills (such as addition and subtraction) while also learning about our world. 

The class will have plenty of discussion, questions, and challenges to solve. If you are shy don't worry - you do not have to speak - it is entirely up to you!

I will teach with the help of specially-made slides all about some amazing mountains! I have taught this class before in person and the students always find it interesting and challenging (but not too...

- You will get to practice math skills (such as addition and subtraction).
- You will work with number and measurement (heights in metres,4-digit numbers)
- You will learn about some of the world's highest mountains,
- You will get to solve problems that require you to really 'think'

- I am a qualified elementary teacher with 7 years math teaching experience in Grades 1, 2, 3 and 4.  I have been a teacher for 13 years.
- I like to make connections to math and the real world. This lesson is one example of that. More than practising math, the students will get to learn about our world.

- Optional. Make a table (data handling) listing the world's highest mountains. Please share this on the class page after you have completed it and I will give feedback!

- Whiteboard and marker pen with board wiper OR simple notebook/paper and pen or pencil.
- Calculator is optional. Students may want to use this if they find solving the problems mentally too tricky. They can also use this to check their answers.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

- Ongoing assessment through questioning and checking answers as we work through the problems.
- Students will get to share their answers or ask questions if they are unsure about anything during the lesson.
- By the end of the class. all answers will have been shared to the set problems.
