In this popular animal science class, students will learn facts about Mountain Lions, also known as Pumas or Cougars. We will explore and compare the habitat, characteristics, diet, family group and conservation status of Mountain Lions. I will be using a presentation created using photo slides and asking interactive questions that will also integrate elements of geography, math and vocabulary into an animal science lesson designed to motivate natural curiosity. 1. Students will learn facts about the physical characteristics of Mountain Lions such as size, diet, habitat and characteristics. 2. Students will learn how scientists use these characteristics to compare and classify a species like the Mountain Lion. 3. Students will learn why conservation of Mountain Lions is so important and what is being done to prevent the extinction of this species. 4. Students will learn new vocabulary words related to the study of Mountain Lions and their North American habitat.
