Class Experience

This is a one-time course. In this course, learners will create a choice jar for Mother's Day. Learners will be provided with step-by-step instructions for creating their own choice jar. After each direction, learners will be given time to work on their choice jar. Below is a breakdown of the course.

Introduction:
The students will brainstorm things they can do for the special lady in their life. We will be sharing our ideas with the class. Students will choose at least five things they would like to do for this special lady.

Jar Label:
Students will create a label for their jar on an index card. They will use markers to design a border around the edge of the label. Then, they will tape the label to their jar.

Choice Cards:
Students will create choice cards for their jar. Students will write things they would like to do for their special lady on the index cards. After they have written their choices, they will draw a picture of the choices on the index cards. If time permits, they may also design a border on each choice card. When they are finished, they will fold the choice cards and place them into the jar.

End of class:
We will discuss how to use the choice jar. The students will give this as a gift to their special lady on Mother's Day. This lady may choose a choice card from the jar. The learner will do the choice that is written on the choice card. We will discuss how this is a great way to show kindness to an important person in our life. The learners will also learn that they can continue to add choice cards to the jar, and they can continue to use the choice cards.
