What's included
1 live meeting
25 mins in-class hoursHomework
1 hour per week. The homework is to find out the letters in your name and learn them in Morse Code so that you can send the message clearly next class.Class Experience
After all introductions are done, your student will participate in a conversation surrounding how Morse Code is still used today and why it is still important as a life skill. As the teacher, I will write out a sentence and then send the message to the students using an Android app called "CW Studio." All together we will learn the two different characters that make up all Morse Code: the dash "-" (pronounced dah) and the dot "." (pronounced dit). We will proceed by learning the first half of the alphabet. This will happen by explaining to the students: "I am now going to type out an "A". After typing out ".-", the students will have a pen or pencil and write down the letter "A" and under the letter, will write ".-". After writing out the first half of the alphabet, the students will be given the opportunity to type a word out and get feedback regarding how well their message can be understood. Towards the end of the class, the students will be given an additional opportunity to listen to a little Morse Code and try to decode it using their new alphabet. My teaching style is hands on. This means we learn by writing and decoding the coded message, and then learning how to send a proper message through practice and feedback. Learners will get to interact with me several structured times during the class and then as needed when they have questions. As long as you can speak and understand English you can sign up for this class.
