Description
Class Experience
This class is a fun way to practice academic skills usually lost over the summer months. We will have a summer reading challenge and STEM challenges. Learners will have time to socialize as well as complete a math and journal entry each week. This class is ongoing meaning learners may enter or leave at any time because classes do not build upon each other. I am a West Virginia certified teacher and have taught in the public school for ten years. I have been working with children for 17 years through public school, summer camps, after school programs, tutoring, daycare centers etc. I hold a M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction, a B.A. in Elementary Education and an A.A. degree. I was nominated teacher of the year at my school in 2020 and have participated in a large variety of professional development sessions and student improvement teams.
No homework is required but a reading challenge will be available for those who wish to participate. This challenge will be tailored to each learners reading level and will look different for each learner, therefore the number of pages and weekly reading needed to complete the challenge will vary based on learner ability.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners are assessed through informal observation and no grades are given.
35 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
