Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been a special education teacher for nearly 10 years, working in city public schools and virtual schools in all subject areas, grades 6-12. I have a BA in Psychology and a MS in Special Education. I teach a wide range of subjects and like to equip students with techniques and strategies that they can use in any subject. I aim to be engaging, creative and student centered in my approach. I like to think outside of the box. I can provide graphic organizers for students to use to help make sense of their thinking, share reading comprehension strategies or do some hands on fun creating (like paper airplanes). As a kid, I always dreamed of being a teacher. I love learning and I love sharing that excitement of learning new things with others. I believe everyone learns differently and everyone deserves to be met where they are with their unique learning styles honored, nurtured and taken into consideration. I believe in honoring students and their voices and providing them with a safe space to flourish, explore and grow. I am a mom to two of the most amazing littles girls and am also a professional bathroom singer!
