Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
In England during the 1700s, there were some fantastic trends in fashion. Big hair with decoration, white makeup and fake fur eyebrows were all the rage! In this class, we will look at re-creating some of these looks using our own home items. We might get a little messy, but that is where the fun is! These styles were not limited to women, men also used big hair and makeup to showcase their wealth and status in society. For this class, we will act as if we are getting ready for a dance, prepare our hair and makeup accordingly, and learn a few steps for dancing, too!

ALL STUDENTS MUST READ THE PREP SHEET PRIOR TO CLASS AND HAVE ALL SUPPLIES READY TO GO!

Perfect for students without any background knowledge, geared to make history fun and interesting! In addition to lots of facts, students are encouraged to take notes or make drawings to reinforce learning. During the class, students can join in creating a makeup look from household items, as instructed by the teacher. The instructor will teach using discussion, slides, images and an interactive map. Students are encouraged to ask questions along the way.

Parental Guidance
Please note: this class is to show and involve the student in making a hair-do and makeup like they did in the 1700s. It will be fun, but might cause a little mess. You may wish to supervise or be nearby. You may want your child to wash their face or hair after class, or at least have some wet wipes available if they need to clean up immediately.
Supply List
The student should have supplies ready prior to class. There is a 1700s Hair & MakeUp Prep Sheet and Handout that will be added to the welcome message. I'll also add it to the classroom messages prior to class. Please message me if you do not get it.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a professional tour guide in London and love going around the city (sometimes dressed in costume!) and teaching visitors about the fascinating history. With over 2000 years of events, there is plenty to learn! My signature tour is where I dress like a singing nanny from the Edwardian period and teach about suffragettes and chimney sweeps!
If you have been dreaming of visiting London, but want to get a head start on learning more about this city and the history here.... my classes are perfect for you.
I believe that you can learn and have fun at the same time. No subject is too boring, and I hope you will find my classes to be entertaining, engaging and educational. During class, I often change costumes to help keep the learners engaged and I encourage dressing up in class!
