In this one time class, students will learn some traditional stories of the Chinese Mid Autumn Festival, a harvest festival in China. This festival is comparable with Thanksgiving where families gather and eat a large meal together, family is celebrated under the full moon. We will discuss some of the traditional dishes that are eaten in different parts of the country. Students will then hear a traditional story told to children about the Mid Autumn festival. We will finish the class with making an origami bunny.

Students will learn about a new holiday celebrated in Asia, that they may not be familiar with.

I have lived in China for 7 years and celebrated this holiday with friends and their families. I have experienced this traditional celebration in different parts of China including Sichuan, Guangdong, and even into Hong Kong Island for the dancing dragon. I have learned about this holiday from friends, as well as parent presentations at the schools where I have taught.
