These semi private sessions are designed to teach the art of Shaolin Kempo Karate to siblings or one close friend at a time so I can really focus on what each student needs. Through our sessions, we will explore, learn, and practice numerous ways to block, strike and defend ourselves. We will follow a belt system so each student can see where they would stand in an physical dojo. Each belt earned would be considered a "virtual" belt. Upon completion of each rank (belt), students will be...
I currently run a dojo and have done so for over 25 years. I am offering this simply because I enjoy working one on one with students and see them progress. I currently have students I work with privately in the dojo and in libraries (I am also a 3rd grade teacher) and working with one person at a time helps you truly understand them and what it is that I need to do to teach them. This approach of one on one instruction of martial arts through this format is unique in itself and I can already see benefits from small groups I have worked with on Outschool.
Please make sure to have enough space to move around and a bottle of water to use as needed. There are no items that are need for these lessons, however, items are availble if students choose to. For example: Uniforms, belts, matts, and bags are all ideal if a student decides to use them. Recommendations can be given as to get these itmes is a student decides to, however, students can progress without them.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We do discuss defending ourselves. This includes what happens if a stranger speaks to us, and what we do if a bully approaches us. These are scary concepts to discuss but important ones to talk about to help protect our loved ones.
