Hi Families! Welcome to our virtual school! 🌟 For 5 years, Quantum Montessori™ has been igniting a love for learning with our heart-centered approach. In our adolescent program, students receive personalized one-on-one or small group guidance 3 days a week for 2 hours each day. Our flexible structure allows learners to choose their lessons, exploring their interests in subjects like Literacy, Mathematics, History, Science, and Art. This program encourages self-direction and independence, helping students prepare for their future, whether they're heading to college or pursuing other career paths. Classes start with a brief check-in with their Guide, followed by engaging lessons using lectures, interactive games, slides, video clips, and discussions. This approach not only fosters curiosity but also helps develop critical thinking, time management, and practical skills. Students are also encouraged to volunteer or gain work experience to enhance their learning journey. Our goal is to support your child in becoming self-governed and responsible, all while enjoying a rich, interactive educational experience! 🌱✨ Contact us to learn more about our Adolescent program. OUR GUIDES:
⭐️ Hello! I’m Elissa Pugh, a dedicated Montessori Adolescent Guide with over twenty years of experience in education. My journey spans teaching various age groups, from early childhood to adulthood, primarily in Montessori schools and colleges. With degrees in English and Creative Writing, and additional graduate work in Montessori Education, I bring a rich background in both the humanities and educational practices.
I hold Montessori certification and have specialized training in working with English language learners. I’m particularly excited to contribute to Quantum Montessori, where I can share my passion for writing, literature, and the exploration of science and math with students.
Originally from Maryland and having spent over two decades in Nashville, TN, I now reside in West Virginia with my three children and our dog. We are currently renovating an 1870s house, which keeps life both challenging and rewarding. In my free time, I enjoy reading, watching movies, crafting, and engaging with learners.
I have also worked with students with special needs, including dyslexia, dyscalculia, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. My teaching experience is complemented by roles as an adjunct English instructor at Concord University and Nashville State Community College, and as a lead teacher and adolescent program coordinator at Holy Trinity Montessori School. I am passionate about Montessori education, empathy, kindness, and the joys of learning.
⭐️ Hello! My name is Gina Henry, and I am a certified Montessori Adolescent Guide with a rich background in education and special needs support. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Natural Science and Mathematics from Thomas Edison State University (1996) and a master’s degree in Special Education from Lewis University (2005), where I also earned a reading specialist endorsement. Additionally, I have studied Orton-Gillingham Methods through Wilson Language Academy.
My career began as a naturalist and evolved into teaching middle school inclusion, resource, and self-contained classes. I later homeschooled my own children and supported other homeschoolers with unit studies, nature walks, and tutoring. My experience also includes teaching adult basic education at Moraine Valley Community College and working with adults with developmental disabilities.
In 2020, I pursued a master’s degree in Data Analysis from Southern New Hampshire University and began a 500-hour yoga therapy training at My Vinyasa Practice in Austin, Texas, where I am completing my final project. My passion for educational data journalism continues as a hobby.
Outside of work, I am an avid reader and enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and nature photography. I also engage in various fiber arts and appreciate local cultural and art events. My family includes three adult children, a stepson, and our beloved cat, Murphy, who is an emotional support animal.
I am thrilled to join Quantum Montessori and look forward to collaborating with parents and working with your children this year!
