Class Experience
This class is also offered as a one-to-one tutorial, and 2x/week. Please scroll down to see a sequenced catalog of Montessori Read & Write classes. The content of this class is not cumulative; join any time. In addition to blending and segmenting 1-syllable and 2-syllable phonetic words, we will practice one new digraph every week, such as 'sh' in 'brush.' See the syllabus below. Learners will be able to correctly identify the phonetic sound of each letter of the alphabet. Learners will master phonemic awareness, segmenting and blending skills necessary for confident phonetic reading. Learners will master 32 digraphs (phonograms): sh, ar, ch, or, ai, ee, oa, oo, a-e, i-e, o-e, u-e, ou, oi, er, igh. Learners will improve lowercase print handwriting skills.

Optional practice reading and writing at home is encouraged. A dotted font word list for guided writing and visual copying will be provided to each enrolled learner each week. Pencil grip may be briefly addressed in class, but will need to be reinforced at home.
