Beginner - Intermediate Level
🧡 Level 3 Phonics & Intro to Digraphs is designed for young learners who need guidance to read and spell words with letter combinations that make a new sound, such as /sh/ and /u-e/. 🧡 CLASS CONTENT: Each 45-minute session has individual attention, using the mute/unmute button to help learners focus and enjoy full participation! Via screen-sharing: 1️⃣🎶 with an original slideshow we sing a letter-sound song for the entire alphabet, then sing the ABC Song! 2️⃣ 🖼️ I introduce eight colorful photos, focusing on names and descriptions. 3️⃣ 🔡 I engage each learner in turn while demonstrating the Montessori color-coded alphabet with phonetic letter sounds and photos. We sound out and spell words such as "sand" and "cactus." Half of these words include the target digraph, such as "train," "nails" and "raindrops." 4️⃣ 📝 Using the dotted-font word list provided, I demonstrate writing each word twice while spelling the letter names. 5️⃣ 📖 Learners take turns to read a label, use their word in a sentence, and observe as I match each label with a picture. Fun discussion is included! 6️⃣ 🎉 I guide a fun cooperative BINGO game, emphasizing picture description, conversation and spelling letter names. 😊 My teaching style is warm, attentive and patient. This class is similar to a Montessori classroom experience; a small group of mixed-age learners with a shared enthusiasm for vocabulary, letter sounds, spelling, conversation, and learning to read! We'll end each meeting with a brief goodbye song with live autoharp accompaniment. 🧡 Each session focuses on reading 8 words; 4 phonetic, and 4 that offer practice with a target digraph 📅 Lessons in 2024/25 Week of: 11/04: a-e (plates) 11/11: i-e (glide) 11/18: o-e (nose) 11/25: OFF 12/02: u-e (cute) 12/09: ou (round) 12/16: oi (foil) 12/23: OFF 12/30: OFF 01/06: er (river) 01/13: igh (flight) 01/20: 'sh' (splash) 01/27: 'ar' (jars) 02/03: 'ch' (chickens) 02/10: 'or' (horns) 02/17: ai (raindrops) 02/24: ee (trees) 03/03: oa (road) 03/10: oo (broom) 🧡 Enroll any time - the content is not cumulative. 📝 For learners who already write in cursive, I offer word list PDFs in cursive font 🧑🏽💻MONTESSORI READ & WRITE CLASSES: 🤍 Intro Level "Montessori Phonics: Letter Sounds & Easy Handwriting" (self-paced) 🩷 Level 1 "Phonics - CVC Words for Beginners" (group or 1:1) Ages 3 - 6 ❤️ Level 2 "Phonics Fun - Blends for Beginners" (group or 1:1) Ages 3 - 6 🧡 Level 3 "Phonics & Intro to Digraphs" (group or 1:1) Ages 4 - 6 💛 Read Books Aloud & Memorize Sight Words (1:1 only) Ages 5 - 7 💚 Level 4 "Mastering Digraphs for Emerging Readers" (group or 1:1) Ages 5 - 7 💙 Level 5 "Word Study for Emerging Readers" (group or 1:1) Ages 5 - 7 💜 Level 6 "Vocabulary Enrichment for Emerging Writers" (group or 1:1) Ages 5 - 7
