Description
Class Experience
Learners will sing an initial-sound song for the entire alphabet. Learners will memorize over 30 digraphs, such as ‘ai’ and ‘ay.’ They will improve their phonetic reading fluency, spelling and cursive handwriting skills. Learners will understand the meaning of sixteen vocabulary words per meeting that contain the targeted digraphs or phonograms.

3 files available upon enrollmentAccess to a color printer is highly recommended. The afternoon/evening before each meeting, I will post dotted-font cursive word lists for guided practice and visual copying during class. These spelling/handwriting lists can be kept in a folder, or glued directly into a booklet, such as a spiral bound 8.5" x 11" notebook. Or, these lists can be laminated and kept for repeated practice. I will also send a new BINGO board with the lists; the little colorful pictures exactly match the words in the handwriting practice lists. I will always screen share the game, so it is not necessary to print this before class. If you do not have access to a printer before a session; no worries. Simply practice with us on notebook paper or a whiteboard.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
As a Lead Montessori teacher with 28 years of full time classroom experience, I'm adept at assessing student understanding as the lesson progresses. The pace of each session will be adjusted according to the students’ needs.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
