US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Beginner - Intermediate Level
💜 Level 6 Vocabulary Enrichment is designed for readers who are learning to write long words such as 'monarch butterfly' and 'parallelogram.' They've memorized many digraphs (letter pairs that make a new sound) and they know many sight words. Each session aims to encourage additional fact-finding and writing after class. 💜 CLASS CONTENT: Each 45-minute session has individual attention, using the mute/unmute button to help learners focus and enjoy full participation! Via screen-sharing: 1️⃣ 🎶 I sing a children's song with live autoharp accompaniment. The lyrics are provided in dotted font, the song introduces the topic of study for the session. For example, I sing "Home on the Range" to begin a class on North American Mammals. 2️⃣ 🖼️ I introduce 8 colorful photos for a topic such as "jungle mammals" (see list below) focusing on names, spellings and descriptions. 3️⃣ 📝 Using the dotted-font word list provided, I demonstrate writing each word twice while spelling the letter names. 4️⃣ 📖 Learners take turns to read a label, describe and discuss the picture, and observe as I match the label with a picture. 5️⃣ 🖼️ 📝 📖 We repeat the same process with another 8 photos: introduction, writing, reading and discussion. 6️⃣ 🎉 I guide a fun cooperative BINGO game, emphasizing picture description, conversation and correct spelling. 😊 My teaching style is warm, attentive and patient. This class is similar to a Montessori classroom experience; a small group of mixed-age learners with a shared enthusiasm for vocabulary, letter sounds, spelling, conversation, and learning to read fluently! 💜 Each session focuses on reading and writing 16 words in one category 📅 Lessons in 2024/25 Week of: 11/11: Days of the Week & Months of the Year 11/18: Naming Feelings & Popular Pets 11/25: OFF 12/02: Relatives & The Four Seasons 12/09: Number Names & Sports 12/16: Colors - rainbow and more! & Shapes - 2D & 3D Names 12/23: OFF 12/30: OFF 01/06 Yummy Fruits & Delicious Vegetables 01/13: Vertebrates & Invertebrates & Honey Bees & Other Pollinators 01/20: Butterflies & Moths & Mammals of North America 01/27: Mammals of Jungles & Grasslands & Mountain Mammals 02/03: Ocean Mammals & Fish - oceanic and fresh water 02/10: Aquatic Birds - from penguins to puffins & Birds of the Forest & Jungle 02/17: Birds of the Mountains and Ground-Dwelling Birds & Dogs - real breeds in history & fiction 02/24: Reptiles & Amphibians 03/03: Air & Water Transportation - from blimps to sailboats & Land Vehicles - from unicycles to freight trains 03/10: Construction Vehicles - road building and more & Simple Machines - the wheel & axle and more! 03/17: Famous Places - USA & Famous Places - Global 💜 Enroll any time - the content is not cumulative 🧑🏽💻MONTESSORI READ & WRITE CLASSES: 🤍 Intro Level "Montessori Phonics: Letter Sounds & Easy Handwriting" (self-paced) 🩷 Level 1 "Phonics - CVC Words for Beginners" (group or 1:1) Ages 3 - 6 ❤️ Level 2 "Phonics Fun - Blends for Beginners" (group or 1:1) Ages 3 - 6 🧡 Level 3 "Phonics & Intro to Digraphs" (group or 1:1) Ages 4 - 6 💛 Read Books Aloud & Memorize Sight Words (1:1 only) Ages 5 - 7 💚 Level 4 "Mastering Digraphs for Emerging Readers" (group or 1:1) Ages 5 - 7 💙 Level 5 "Word Study for Emerging Readers" (group or 1:1) Ages 5 - 7 💜 Level 6 "Vocabulary Enrichment for Emerging Writers" (group or 1:1) Ages 5 - 7
