Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Beginner - Intermediate Level
💜 Level 6 Vocabulary Enrichment is designed for readers who are learning to write long words such as 'monarch butterfly' and 'parallelogram.' They've memorized many digraphs (letter pairs that make a new sound) and they know many sight words. Each session aims to encourage additional fact-finding and writing after class.

💜 CLASS CONTENT: Each 45-minute session has individual attention, using the mute/unmute button to help learners focus and enjoy full participation!
Via screen-sharing:
1️⃣ 🎶 I sing a children's song with live autoharp accompaniment. The lyrics are provided in dotted font, the song introduces the topic of study for the session. For example, I sing "Home on the Range" to begin a class on North American Mammals.

2️⃣ 🖼️ I introduce 8 colorful photos for a topic such as "jungle mammals" (see list below) focusing on names, spellings and descriptions.

3️⃣ 📝 Using the dotted-font word list provided, I demonstrate writing each word twice while spelling the letter names.

4️⃣ 📖 Learners take turns to read a label, describe and discuss the picture, and observe as I match the label with a picture.

5️⃣ 🖼️ 📝 📖 We repeat the same process with another 8 photos: introduction, writing, reading and discussion.

6️⃣ 🎉 I guide a fun cooperative BINGO game, emphasizing picture description, conversation and correct spelling.

😊 My teaching style is warm, attentive and patient. This class is similar to a Montessori classroom experience; a small group of mixed-age learners with a shared enthusiasm for vocabulary, letter sounds, spelling, conversation, and learning to read fluently!

💜 Each session focuses on reading and writing 16 words in one category
