Beginner Level
🩷 Hi! Learners call me "Ms. Rachael." Level 1 "Phonics - CVC Words for Beginners" is a great way to enhance your young learner's ability to write the alphabet and build simple CVC words. 🔡Discover the magic of the Montessori movable alphabet for phonics success! Letter sounds engage your child in mastering phonemic awareness (hearing the order of sounds in a spoken word). 💡This awareness is the foundation of fluent reading and writing! Every child learns at a different pace, and this class is age-flexible and inclusive for atypical and/or gifted learners. 👩🏽👦🏽This class can be a fun shared experience for a caregiver and their child, with the adult off-camera per Outschool policy. 🩷 CLASS CONTENT: Each 30-minute session has individual attention, using the mute/unmute button to help learners focus and enjoy full participation! Via screen-sharing: 1️⃣ 🎶 We sing a sound-song with one sound for each letter of the alphabet, while watching an engaging slide show. Then we sing the ABC Song; all with live autoharp accompaniment! 2️⃣ 🖼️ I introduce eight colorful photos, focusing on names and descriptions. 3️⃣ 🔡 I engage each learner in turn while demonstrating the Montessori color-coded alphabet with phonetic letter sounds and photos. We sound out and discuss 8 CVC phonetic words such as "cat," "fix" and "sun." 4️⃣ 📝 Using the XXL dotted-font word list provided, I demonstrate writing each word while saying the letter sounds. 5️⃣ 🎉 I guide a fun cooperative BINGO game, emphasizing picture description, conversation and letter sounds. 😊 My teaching style is warm, attentive and patient. This class is similar to a Montessori classroom experience; a small group of mixed-age learners with a shared enthusiasm for vocabulary, letter sounds, conversation, and learning to read! 📅 Lessons in 2024/25 Week of: 12/02: (8, 8A) cat, dad, fan, ten, kid, mom, hop, mug 12/09: (1, 1A) bat, bed, hen, tin, pot, fox, cup, gum 12/16: (2, 2A) yak, van, pen, web, fin, dog, mop, hut 12/23: (3, 3A) map, wax, wet, net, mix, box, mud, sun 12/30: (4, 4A) ant, hat, get, wig, tip, zip, tub, pup 01/06: (5, 5A) tap, tag, sap, fan, met, fit, rod, hug 01/13: (6, 6A) jam, fix, bit, sit, hog, top, bun, jug 01/20: (7, 7A) mat, bag, men, rip, win, cot, dot, rub 🩷 This is an ongoing class and after 8 sessions, the words and pictures repeat.
