This ongoing class is designed for young learners who already know one sound for each letter, and who need frequent guided practice with decoding and encoding phonetic words. This class focuses on blending and...

Learners will be able to correctly identify the phonetic sound of each letter of the alphabet. Learners will master phonemic awareness, segmenting and blending skills necessary for confident phonetic reading. Learners will improve lowercase print handwriting skills, using blank and/or lined paper of their choice.

Lead Montessori Teacher and Music Specialist for almost 3 decades. Bachelor's of Music Education. Certified by the most rigorous Montessori training program in North America (Association Montessori Internationale).

Optional practice reading and writing at home is encouraged. A dotted font word list for guided writing and visual copying will be provided to each enrolled learner the day before each session. Pencil grip may be briefly addressed in class, but will need to be reinforced at home.

Please bring writing supplies to class.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

As a Lead Montessori teacher with 28 years of full time classroom experience, I'm adept at assessing student understanding as the lesson progresses. The pace of each session will be adjusted according to the students’ needs.
