Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - Pre-Kindergarten
Welcome to our Montessori Language class for toddlers, where young learners embark on an exciting journey to develop foundational language skills. This program is carefully designed to nurture listening, speaking, and early literacy skills through engaging and interactive activities. Our goal is to create a rich linguistic environment that fosters a love for language and prepares children for future academic success.

We are proud to be the first and only accredited Montessori school on the Outschool platform, featuring certified teachers who bring their expertise from our brick-and-mortar school located in Ontario, Canada.

In this class, toddlers will be introduced to essential language skills through the Montessori method. The curriculum focuses on visual discrimination (object, picture, whole, part cards), oral language, language training, comprehension, and phonetic sounds. By the end of the course, children will have a strong foundation in language that will support their ongoing learning journey.

Topics Covered

Listening and Responding: Children will engage in activities that enhance their listening skills and ability to respond appropriately. These exercises will help them understand the importance of active listening and effective communication.

Non-Verbal Communication: Through games and interactive activities, children will explore non-verbal communication methods such as gestures, facial expressions, and body language. This will help them understand and use non-verbal cues effectively.

Two-Way Communication: The class will emphasize the importance of two-way communication, encouraging children to express themselves and listen to others. Activities will include poems, dialogues, storytelling, and role-playing.

Vocabulary Building: Children will be introduced to new words and concepts through fun and engaging activities. This will help expand and enrich their vocabulary.

Concept and Cognitive Development: The curriculum includes exploration of language such as things that go together, opposites, sequencing, and "I Spy" games.

Letter Sounds: Toddlers will be introduced to letter sounds through phonetic activities and games. This will lay the groundwork for reading and writing skills.

Handwriting: Basic handwriting skills will be taught using Montessori materials and techniques. Children will practice writing letters and simple words, developing fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

Class Structure

Each session will begin with a brief lecture on the day's topic, providing children with a clear understanding of what they will be exploring. The teacher will then demonstrate the materials or worksheets needed for the activity, showing step-by-step how to complete the task. Following the demonstration, children will have the opportunity to try the activity independently, while the teacher observes and provides real-time feedback. This hands-on approach ensures that children learn through experience while receiving the support they need to succeed.

Our teaching style is fun, engaging, and productive. We believe that learning should be an enjoyable experience that stimulates curiosity and a love for discovery. By creating a positive and supportive atmosphere, we aim to keep students motivated and eager to participate.

Students will have ample opportunities to interact with the teacher and their peers throughout the class. The small group setting ensures that each child receives personalized attention and has the chance to actively participate in all activities. We incorporate a variety of teaching methods, including interactive games, discussions, slides, and occasional video clips, to make lessons dynamic and relatable.
